Biggest Sequels in the Works for 2017!
If you love movies as much as David Berkowitz Chicago, then you know that 2017 promises to be a great year for sequels! Here are some of the most anticipated sequels (or prequels) on the horizon.
T2: Trainspotting 2
Directed by Danny Boyle, Ewan McGregor (“Rent Boy”), Jonny Lee Miller (“Sick Boy”) and Robert Carlyle (“Franco”) reprise their roles in the original 1996 film. Set 20 years after the events of the first film, the story will explore what became of the troubled group of friends after Rent Boy’s betrayal of the group and optimistic steps towards a new beginning. Set in the dark world of the porn industry, this tale is likely to be as grim (and as entertaining) as the original.
John Wick: Chapter Two
Keanu Reeves returns to the screen as John Wick, a hitman forced out of retirement by a blood oath to help a former associate. The ensemble cast is sure to please fans, with Common, Bridget Moynahan, John Leguizamo, Laurence Fishburne and Ruby Rose joining the fray.
Toy Story 4
Woody (Tom Hanks), Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen), Mr. Potato Head (Don Rickles) and all the other toys set out on a new adventure to reunite with Bo Peep, who had been gifted to someone else by the gang’s original owner.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2
Set two months after the events of the first film, Star-Lord (Chris Pratt), Gamora (Zoe Saldana), Drax (Dave Bautista), Groot (Vin Diesel) and Rocket (Bradley Cooper) settle into their new-found roles and responsibilities and face new threats to the galaxy.
Despicable Me 3
The characters from the wildly popular first and second films return to the screen facing new challenges. Starring Steve Carell as Felonious Gru (and also as his twin brother Dru), Kristen Wiig as Lucy, wife of Gru, and series-newcomer Trey Parker as Balthazar Bratt – and of course the Minions! – this film is sure to delight young and old.
Alien Covenant
Another sequel to a prequel to the Alien series, this picks up after the events of Prometheus and follows the story of a new colony ship, the Covenant, which stumbles upon the only survivor of the Prometheus expedition – a synthetic named David (Michael Fassbender). Also starring Noomi Rapace, Billy Crudup, Katherine Watterston and Danny McBride.
Bladerunner 2049
Directed by Ridley Scott, this sequel to the cult-classic original sees Harrison Ford bring Rick Deckard back to life. The cast includes Ryan Gosling, Robin Wright, Dave Baustista and Jared Leto. Details of the plot are not yet available, but it is sure to be a story well-waiting for!
There you have it! Plenty of great sequels coming down the line for old fans who can’t wait to find out what happens to their favorite characters, or for new fans who are discovering these series for the first time. Butter up that popcorn!
